Pine Labs Shares Surge 5% As Mastercard Exits With Rs. 892 Crore Block Deal; Check All Details

Shares of Pine Labs jumped sharply this morning after Mastercard Asia/Pacific moved to sell its entire 4.31% stake in the fintech company through a block deal worth close to Rs.892 crore.
Pine Labs shares opened at Rs. 195.25 apiece on the NSE and then quickly surged 5% to an intraday high of Rs. 204.95 per share.
At the time of writing, Pine Labs shares were trading at Rs. 199.65, up by 3.07%.

Block Deal Details
Being one of Pine Labs’ earliest strategic backers, Mastercard is making a complete exit by one of the company’s earliest strategic backers.
According to exchange data, Mastercard Asia/Pacific held 4.97 crore shares in Pine Labs as of June 30, and the proposed sale covers roughly that same quantity, offered at a floor price of Rs. 179.50 per share.
Citigroup Global Markets India is acting as the sole placement agent for the sale, which is a 100% secondary transaction, meaning no new shares are being issued and the company itself raises no fresh capital from it.
The books for the deal opened on September 21 and were set to close around 7:30 am on September 22, though they could close earlier depending on demand. The trade was expected to be executed on September 22, with settlement due on September 23.
MasterCard & Pine Labs Connection
Mastercard first invested in Pine Labs in January 2020, which pushed the company’s valuation past $1 billion and made it India’s first fintech unicorn of that year.
This is part of a series of stake sales by early investors in Pine Labs in 2026, after their post-listing lock-in periods ended. As per Exchange data, Alpha Wave sold almost all of its 3.1% stake for around Rs. 550 crore. Actis sold shares in two separate deals worth Rs. 152 crore and Rs. 371 crore, while Madison India Capital sold a stake worth Rs. 357 crore. Invesco also reduced its holding by selling shares worth Rs. 115 crore.

On the business side, Pine Labs posted a stronger first quarter for the current fiscal year, with revenue up 19.6% YoY to Rs. 737 crore and net profit rising to Rs. 19.6 crore, while its EBITDA margin expanded to 12.9%.
Pine Labs listed on the NSE and BSE in November 2025 after an Rs. 3,900 crore IPO priced at Rs. 210 per share, debuting with a roughly 14% premium over its issue price. The stock has since fallen sharply from its post-listing highs, down about 23% over the past year
