Avacta Appoints Blom To Board As Audit Committee Chair; Advances Pre|CISION Platform

(RTTNews) – Avacta Group Plc (AVCT.L), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing its pre|CISION tumor-activated oncology delivery platform, announced the appointment of Mats Blom to its Board of Directors as a non-executive director and Chair of the Audit Committee.

Meanwhile, Paul Fry, Avacta’s current Audit Committee Chair, will step down from the Board effective September 30, 2026, allowing for an orderly transfer of his responsibilities to Blom.

Avacta’s pipeline comprises pre|CISION-enabled oncology candidates, with lead programs including AVA6000 (fabridoxorubicin) and AVA6103, which are being evaluated in clinical studies across multiple solid tumors. While AVA6207, a dual-payload candidate is in the preclinical stage.

Blom is an experienced biotechnology finance executive who served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Zealand Pharma A/S from 2010 to 2019, overseeing the company’s Nasdaq listing and earlier initial public offering (IPO) on Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen. He also held CFO positions at Active Biotech and Anoto Group.

Christina Coughlin, Chief Executive Officer of Avacta, said Blom’s “deep financial expertise and extensive experience in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors across U.S. and Europe will be instrumental as the company advances its pre|CISION platform toward future strategic milestones.”

Blom currently chairs the Board of Egetis Therapeutics AB and serves on the Boards of Hansa Biopharma AB and privately held Pephexia Therapeutics Aps.

The company anticipates releasing initial clinical data for AVA6103 from the FOCUS-01 trial in the late second half of 2026. Additionally, Avacta plans payload and clinical candidate selection for AVA6207 program in the second half of 2026.

Avacta shares are trading up 1.99% at GBp 77 on the London Stock Exchange.
