  • Payments processor Talus launched ReadyPoint, an offering that allows merchants to accept payments on mobile phones through softPOS tap-to-pay technology from Ingenico.
  • A new report from Visa Inc., called “The Great Indoors: How the ‘Couch Economy’ Is Redefining Consumer Spending Habits,” found that more than 17% of payment cards are used for streaming subscriptions in the United States, compared to approximately 6% used for cinema and concert spending. Visa defines the couch economy as the trend of consumers shopping, streaming, dining, and managing everyday activities from home using digital platforms.
  • PayPal Holdings Inc. chief executive Enrique Lores plans to convert the company’s Venmo payments service into a comprehensive money-management app while offering richer rewards and an improved user experience when online shoppers select the PayPal checkout button, according to The Wall Street Journal.
  • Sokin, whose technology enables international payments for companies, released a Model Context Protocol connector that lets companies use AI to prepare cross-border payments, along with other tasks.
  • France-based processor Worldline has enabled a payment handler for the Universal Commerce Protocol, an agentic-commerce open standard that allows merchants to accept AI-based transactions on multiple platforms.
  • The city of Buffalo, N.Y., announced a phased transition to ParkMobile to handle mobile parking payments, replacing Buffalo Roam, the incumbent provider.
  • Receipt, a rewards and loyalty platform based on blockchain, announced its stock rewards program is available, offering purchase rewards in the form of tokenized financial instruments linked to publicly traded equities.
  • Temporal, whose technology enables AI for payments and other financial operations, announced it raised $550 million in a Series E funding round led by Lightspeed. The round values the company at $12.55 billion.
