Karnataka Weather Forecast Today: IMD Predicts Thunderstorms & Rain In South Interior Districts Till Sept 14

Bengaluru woke up to cloudy skies on Friday, September 12, with the temperature hovering around 30 degrees Celsius. The chance of rainfall today in Bengaluru is about only 10%, and the Bengaluru weather is expected to stay mostly dry.

As per IMD’s 24 hours forecast, “Partly cloudy sky. Maximum and Minimum temperature are very likely to be around 31°C and 21°C respectively in the Bengaluru city”.

The IMD’s sub-division-wise bulletin, issued on September 12, shows a fairly calm week ahead for most of the state. Coastal Karnataka & North karnataka received no weatherwarning till September 18.

However the weather in the South Interior Karnataka may see thunderstorms and lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds.

IMD’s forecast for Karnataka weather this week is mostly sunny with scattered thunderstorms and strong winds, along with light-to-moderate rainfall at some places.

Above-normal temperatures are expected to persist in parts of the interior districts even as the thunderstorm activity may not be present.

As per Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, “Karnataka state is likely to experience sunny weather along with gusty winds in some places, with a possibility of light to moderate rain in a few areas. There is a possibility of above-normal temperatures continuing in some parts of the interior”.

A low-pressure area over the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal has been the main cause behind the rainfall across several states, including Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, with the system expected to intensify and track west-northwestwards.

IMD has separately forecast isolated to scattered rainfall over South Interior Karnataka between September 11 and 17, with Coastal Karnataka expected to see a similar pattern from September 12 to 17.

For now, Bengaluru is expected to remain mostly dry, while isolated rainfall and thunderstorm activity could occur in parts of the wider South Interior Karnataka region.

Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka are likely to see relatively stable weather conditions, with no major weather warning currently indicated through September 18.
