How brokers can build big-lender tech without a big budget

“I had bought this realtor portal tool where you can make these tools for realtors, and they can log into it and create headshots and stuff,” he said. “This guy was selling this tool; it was like $79 a month, and it sounded good on paper, but I was like, I can make something better on my own.”

By building the technology himself, not only could he save on a monthly subscription, but he could customize it the way he wanted.

“Why don’t I just make my own little webpage that has the same stuff, and then I can cancel this thing,” he said. “It starts making suggestions, and then it does its thing, and it finishes it.”

Scaling outreach without a team

The same approach, according to Scarpero, applies to generating new business, not just building tools. He is still working out how far he wants to take it.

“I would start with outreach, because the technology is there to scrape websites,” he said. “You just create a Gmail template that comes personally from my Gmail and identify the people I want to talk to, and then just have it send out 10 to 15 a day, enough to not hit the spam filters.”
