Barclays Makes Senior Japan Sales Trading Hires | LeapRate
Barclays said Monday that it has appointed Takeo Kamai as head of high-touch sales trading for Japan and hired Warren Kim to its cash equities business
Based in Tokyo, both will join the high-touch sales trading team led by Joseph Lee, head of high-touch sales trading for Asia Pacific.
The bank said the appointments mark an important step in the continued growth of its Japan equities business, “re-establishing an on-the-ground high-touch execution capability” and strengthening its client offering in a key market.
Barclays said said high-touch sales trading plays an important role in providing access to liquidity, market expertise and support for complex, often cross-border transactions.
“Clients value trusted execution partners who can combine local market expertise with global reach,” said Christian Treuer, head of equities distribution for Asia Pacific. He added that the two appointments enhance the bank’s ability to deliver high-quality execution and market insight in Japan.
Paul Johnson, head of equities for Asia Pacific, described Japan as “one of the world’s most important equity markets and remains a strategic focus” for the bank.
Kamai joins from CLSA, where he most recently led its execution services business in Japan, while Kim most recently led CLSA’s offshore sales trading business in the country.
