Cboe Global Markets Reports Mixed August 2026 Trading Volumes, Sets XSP Options Record | LeapRate

Cboe Global Markets (Cboe: CBOE) reported its trading volume statistics for August 2026 on September 3, revealing a mixed performance across its global business lines, with notable strength in index options and a record month for mini-SPX (XSP) options.

According to the company’s monthly volume report, average daily volume (ADV) for index options rose 17.4% year-over-year to 5.743 million contracts in August, though this was down 4.1% from July. Multi-listed options ADV increased 3.3% year-over-year to 14.801 million contracts, while futures volume fell 25.3% from a year earlier to 163,000 contracts.

U.S. equities trading on-exchange declined 10.0% year-over-year to 1.481 billion matched shares, while off-exchange volume dropped 7.8% to 211 million shares. Canadian equities, European equities, and global FX all posted year-over-year gains, rising 13.3%, 5.2%, and 14.1% respectively.

A key highlight for the month was Cboe’s mini-SPX (XSP) options, which set a new monthly ADV record of 241,000 contracts, surpassing the previous record established in July 2026.

The report also confirmed that, following the completion of Cboe’s sale of Cboe Australia to TMX Group Limited on July 31, 2026, all Australian equities metrics have been removed from the company’s volume disclosures going forward.

Cboe continues to report RPC and net revenue capture figures on a one-month lag across its business segments.
