Joy Behar Sells Historic Hamptons Home For Nearly 50% Off
Joy Behar’s view of Sag Harbor is going through a refresh.
The talk show host sold her home at 98 Bay Street in the Hamptons town for $5.65 million, Realtor.com reported. The deal closed several weeks after a contract was signed for the abode.
It’s a sharp discount for the panelist on “The View,” who first put the home on the market towards the end of 2024 for nearly $11 million. Behar was forced to drop that price multiple times over the succeeding months, bottoming out with a $5.95 million ask in December.
The 4,500-square-foot home, built near the beginning of the 20th century, features four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms and a heated gunite pool. There’s also a guesthouse with a living room, full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and loft space.
The deal works out to $1,255 per square foot for the main house.
As part of the marketing process, architects drew up plans for potential updates to the property and listing agents even secured planning permissions for work. Behar never needed to do the requisite construction, though she was reportedly prepared to do so to help offload the house.
The comedian bought the Sag Harbor home in 2016 for $4.75 million, around the time she transferred her East Hampton home to her daughter, Eve. She’s since secured the adjacent property to the Sag Harbor home for her next Hamptons house.
The identity of the buyer was not reported. Saunders & Associates’ Ed Gaetjens and John Wines had the listing.
In 2018, Behar sold her Upper West Side co-op unit at the Astor Court building for $3.3 million, $200,000 off its asking price. The sale followed Behar’s November 2017 purchase of a two-bedroom unit at 62 West 62nd Street for $2.4 million.
Another celebrity looking to snag a sale in the Hamptons is actress Meg Ryan, who listed her Bridgehampton farmhouse in June for $15.2 million, seeking a slight markup from the $13.5 million she paid for the property two years ago.
