AMFI re-elects Sundeep Sikka as Chairman, Vishal Kapoor as Vice Chairman

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the apex industry body representing all SEBI-registered Asset Management Companies (AMCs), on Friday announced the re-appointment of Sundeep Sikka, Managing Director and CEO of Nippon Life India Asset Management, as Chairman and Vishal Kapoor, CEO of Bandhan AMC, as Vice Chairman.

The leadership team was unanimously re-elected by the Board of Directors following AMFI’s Annual General Meeting, according to a press release by AMFI.

Both executives will continue to guide the strategic growth of India’s mutual fund sector, strengthening market trust and furthering nationwide financial inclusion, the release further said.

In September 2025, Sundeep Sikka and Vishal Kapoor were appointed as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively in AMFI’s 30th Annual General Meeting.


The CEO of Nippon Life India AMC has earlier served as Chairman of AMFI from 2013 to 2015 and has been on the AMFI Board since 2009. Vishal Kapoor has been serving as Chairman of the ARN Committee since 2020 and has been on the AMFI Board since 2018.

Who is Sundeep Sikka?

Sundeep Sikka brings over 30 years of experience in financial services and currently acts as MD & CEO of NAM India. He joined the organization in 2003 and later became one of the youngest CEOs in India’s mutual fund industry in 2009.Under his leadership, the company achieved industry-leading scale, built a strategic partnership with Nippon Life Insurance, acquired Goldman Sachs Asset Management India, and successfully listed on the stock exchange, according to Nippon India Mutual Fund.

He is currently serving his second term as AMFI Chairman and has led several key industry committees including CII, FICCI, IFSCA and is also a prominent speaker at National and Global forums. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.

Who is Vishal Kapoor?

Vishal Kapoor has over three decades of rich experience in Financial Services across businesses including Asset Management and Banking. At Bandhan AMC, Kapoor is steering the organisation into its next phase of growth by strengthening distribution reach across the country, accelerating digital adoption and expanding a solution-focused product suite spanning equity, fixed income and alternatives, according to Bandhan Mutual Fund.

Before Bandhan AMC, Kapoor worked with Standard Chartered Bank as the Managing Director and Head of Wealth Management. In his earlier stints, Kapoor has been associated with American Express and ITC Threadneedle AMC, working across geographies. At Amex, he was the Senior Director and Head of Financial Advisory Services in India. He also served as Director and Head of Products for American Express Global Financial Services based in New York.

Kapoor is a Management graduate from IIM Ahmedabad and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
