CIBC’s board gets a global AI veteran ahead of tech shift

Her track record spans retail banking, wealth management, and large consumer-facing businesses, a profile that maps directly onto CIBC’s areas of strategic investment.

The bank serves 15 million personal banking, business, public sector and institutional clients across Canada, the United States and internationally.

That investment has already produced measurable results. In June 2025, CIBC won the Digital CX Award for Best Use of AI for Customer Experience from The Digital Banker, recognising its AI-powered voice assistant. The bank also ranked first in customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power Canadian banking study following the launch of its AI-powered Real-Time Experience engine, according to CIBC’s Q3 2025 earnings call materials.

CIBC reported a sharp rise in second-quarter profit, driven by a 40% surge in capital markets earnings. The bank is also set to sell its 91.67% stake in CIBC Caribbean to Bermuda-based Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son for approximately US$1.6 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
