HKEX Renews Chief Executive Bonnie Chan’s Contract for Second Three-Year Term | LeapRate
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced on Monday that its Board of Directors has approved the renewal of the employment contract of Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Y Chan for a further three-year term, running from 1 March 2027 to 28 February 2030.
The reappointment has also received regulatory approval. The exchange stated that under Section 70(1) of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, Ms Chan’s continued appointment was approved by the Securities and Futures Commission.
Ms Chan became CEO of HKEX in early 2024. Her first term is set to expire at the end of February 2027, at which point her second term will begin.
HKEX Chairman Carlson Tong commented on the announcement, stating that the Board was pleased to confirm Ms Chan’s reappointment. He added that she has led the HKEX Group with vision and purpose since taking on the role, noting her focus on strengthening Hong Kong’s position as an international financial centre and her efforts to build what he described as a multi-asset ecosystem connecting capital and opportunities between China and global markets.
Tong also pointed to developments achieved under Ms Chan’s leadership, including the broadening of the Group’s business activities, changes to its listing framework, and upgrades to its technology infrastructure and market structure. He said these changes have made HKEX’s markets more competitive and better suited to current demands.
Tong added that the Board looks forward to continuing to work with Ms Chan and her senior management team as HKEX pursues further growth.
