Gas Cylinder E-KYC Deadline August 15 or 16? Are Indane, HP Gas, Bharat Gas Refills & New Connections Stopped?

It is mandatory for Indian households to complete their biometric Aadhaar authentication for essential gas cylinders like Indane Gas, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas. However, some media reports have mentioned August 15 as the last date, while Indian Oil has notified August 16 as the deadline for completing e-KYC to avoid uninterrupted LPG services. This has created confusion among citizens as to which is the last date for e-KYC. Apart from this, reports have also shed light that LPG refills or LPG new connections have already stopped before the deadline in several places.

Gas Cylinder E-KYC Last Date

What we understand is that in some places August 15 is the deadline for LPG e-KYC. For instance, reports stated that the August 15 deadline was imposed in Ghaziabad and Mangalore, among other areas.

However, for customers of Indian Oil, the deadline is August 16, 2026.

The Indian Oil message read, “Dear customer, you are required to do e-KYC for receiving LPG cylinder at domestic rates. Despite earlier reminders, you have not done your e-KYC so far. You can do e-KYC at your home through the IndianOil ONE App or at your distributor or through the delivery personnel. Failure to do e-KYC by August 16, 2026, would make you ineligible for cylinders at domestic rates till e-KYC is completed. Kindly complete your e-KYC at the earliest.”

But it is advisable to complete your e-KYC before the deadline to avoid last-minute rush, delays or mistakes.

New LPG Connections & LPG Refills Stopped?

Various media reports have stated that customers who have not completed their e-KYC are already facing the impact way before the August 16 deadline. Some customers are not getting their LPG refills delivered, while some are not able to apply for new LPG connection.

A recent report of Times of India quoted Bablu Tiwari, state president of LPG Dealers Association of India, who said, “Many consumers are approaching us for cylinders, but we are not able to supply them because of KYC issues. On one hand, OMs are sending messages saying consumers have time till Aug 16 to complete KYC, but on the other hand, the system is not allowing us to deliver.”

He also revealed that dealers witnessed new LPG connections have been stopped.

Another report from Hyderabad Mail recently revealed that an undeclared freeze on new domestic LPG connection continues across Greater Hyderabad. The report cited dealers who stated that OMCs were not permitting new domestic LPG connections in view of the war, despite the government assuring of no shortage to liquefied petroleum gas.

If you are a customer who has not completed their e-KYC and is facing refill or connection issue, it is advisable to complete your e-KYC first. OMCs like BPCL reportedly warned of temporary suspension to LPG connections if e-KYC is not done before the deadline. The customers can get their connections back once the process is completed.

How To Complete LPG Biometric Aadhaar Authentication Of Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas?

Step 1: Download the relevant app for your LPG gas cylinders. This include

IndianOil One / AadhaarFaceRD: Indane Gas
Hello BPCL: Bharat Gas
HP Pay / AadhaarFaceRD: HP Gas

Step 2: Register or log in using the mobile number linked to your LPG account.

Step 3: Verify your mobile number by entering the OTP sent to your registered number.

Step 4: Link or access your LPG account. For Indane Gas, you will have to enter your 16-digit LPG ID to link with your account. On the other hand, the e-KYC option is directly available on the BPCL and HPCL app.

Step 5: Open e-KYC option. For Indane Gas, you will find the e-KYC option under MY PROFILE. For Bharat Gas, e-KYC option is available on the homepage. While e-KYC option is under ‘LPG section’ of HP Pay app.

Step 6: Read the terms and conditions and provide consent to proceed with Aadhaar-based face authentication.

Step 7: Complete the face scan. Tap Face Scan/Capture Face, allow the AadhaarFaceRD app to scan your face, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your e-KYC.
