Apex Fintech Solutions Launches Prediction Markets Access

Apex Fintech Solutions has launched a prediction markets platform, with an API that gives firms access to market flow from prediction market exchange Kalshi.

Tastytrade, a platform for active traders, is the first firm on the platform, but Apex expects to onboard others in the future, including wealth management firms and registered investment advisors.

With the new platform, Apex handles all Futures Commission Merchant operations, clearing, segregated custody and account management, so firms don’t have to build their own FCM infrastructure or direct exchange connectivity. Kalshi provides the regulated marketplace and event contract offerings, and 24/7 trading access.

Travis McGhee, global head of digital markets at Apex Fintech Solutions, said the firm has seen an increase over the last 18 months in inbound inquiries and demand for access to prediction markets across all categories, including sports, politics and cultural events. That includes demand from wealth management clients.

“I view prediction markets as simply another asset class,” he said. “So our connectivity to those RIAs and wealth advisors, those APIs and pipes that we have built for them, is that plug and play technology where if an RIA or a wealth advisor has interest in the prediction markets and demand from their client base to be able to access those, that we could simply make that API connection and enable that product for that respective wealth manager or RIA no different than we would any other asset class.”

For advisors to use prediction markets with their clients, they would establish themselves as an “introducing broker,” a registration with the National Futures Association and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

McGhee said there aren’t many wealth management firms currently active in prediction markets, but noted there is interest.

“We are starting to receive inbound inquiries from RIAs, from wealth and asset managers asking and inquiring, ‘How does this market work? What does it look like? What are you seeing on demand on the broker/dealer side? Where do you see this space going in terms of regulation? Where do you see these contracts evolving?’”
