Counterparty Radar: Q1 surge comes as US mutual funds and life insurers pile into index CDSs

Goldman Sachs was the counterparty to almost half of the $47.7 billion in credit options reported by US mutual funds and exchange-traded funds in the first quarter of this year – a jump in market share from the 29% recorded in the prior quarter’s filings.

Ranked by notional, Deutsche Bank was the only other member of the top 10 dealers to see a quarterly increase, with Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citi
