Top 10 U.S. Metros With the Largest Increase in Flipping ROI
ATTOM’s Q1 2026 U.S. Home Flipping Report found that 64,348 single-family homes and condominiums were flipped during the first quarter, accounting for 8 percent of all home sales from January through March.
The report stated that the typical profit margin on a flipped home rose to 25.4 percent in the first quarter, up from 24.7 percent in the previous quarter, which marked the lowest level since mid-2008. Profit margins remained below the 29.6 percent return recorded a year earlier.
The latest home flipping analysis also found that gross profits, measured as the difference between the purchase and resale price of a home, rose from $64,300 in the previous quarter to $66,000 in the first quarter of 2026. However, that remained below the typical gross profit of $74,172 recorded a year earlier.
The flipping report also revealed that the highest returns on investment came from homes originally purchased for between $100,000 and $200,000, which generated a typical profit margin of 32 percent. By contrast, homes acquired for less than $50,000 typically sold at a loss, with returns averaging negative 14 percent.
